Dr. Jun Chung received a DoD Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) grant (BC 096597: Title: Integrin regulation of lipid rafts signaling) (9/01/2010 – 08/31/2011). The total funding (direct and indirect) for this project is $98,542. The objective of this study is to assess the importance of integrin α6β4 localization in lipid rafts to the malignant behaviors of breast carcinoma cells, and use this localization pattern as a prognostic marker for breast cancer. Dr. Chung also received an American Cancer Society Grant (RSG  CSM-116748: Title: Integrin Prevention of Breast Carcinoma Anoikis via mTOR)(09/01/2010-08/31/2014). The total funding (direct and indirect) for this project is $717,027. The overall objective of this application is to determine the contribution of α6β4 integrin to mTOR signaling in breast carcinoma survival and metastasis.

Dr. Arrigo DeBenedetti received a DoD Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) grant (Title: TLK1 and Rad9 Cooperate in XRT-Refractory CaP) (4/01/2010 – 03/31/2013). The total funding (direct and indirect) for this project is $658,941. The objectives of this study are to determine if elevated expression of TLK1B and Rad9 is correlated with an increased risk of recurrence after XRT; to investigate when TLK1B is overexpressed it facilitates binding of Rad9 to DSBs to mediate radioresistance; and to screen libraries of diverse compounds for those that weaken the tight interaction between Rad9 and TLK1B by an in vitro high-throughput fluorescence-based primary screen to facilitate discovery of clinically-useful radiosensitizing drugs
